Puycelsi, the fortress in the woods

Perched on a rocky outcrop above the Vère valley, Puycelsi overlooks the Grésigne Forest. This fortified village, nicknamed the ‘Fortress of the Woods’, is surrounded by nearly 800 metres of ramparts.

The rampart walk offers magnificent views of the hills, vineyards and wooded areas. Within the fortifications, the narrow passageways, ancient gates and stone and brick houses create a particularly well-preserved medieval setting.
